Yeni Gayda
Turcosmic Music
Yeni Gayda composes and arranges a repertoire drawn from the popular music of Central Anatolia, the Gypsies of Thrace and Greek Rebetiko, leaving plenty of room for modal improvisation, the central axis of our experiments and compositions. The breath of this music resonates at moments in our lives – festivals, weddings, christenings – when emotions permeate memories and the depths of the collective unconscious.
These story-laden melodies transform us, and the improvisations transport everyone into unexpected movements of nostalgia and joy. While the kaval, cello and voice follow in the bewitching footsteps left by the Ancients, the drums, electronics and sound processing bring a more electric, rock universe to the table.
