Sampling Is Beautiful trio
Success story
Sampling Is Beautiful is a video and stage concept based on “sampling”: sound sampling.
Born in 2017 during the Jazz à Vienne festival, the Sampling Is Beautiful concept was born in collaboration with the concert hall Le Périscope in Lyon.
Indeed, each month, Zajazza started by sampling the upcoming month’s program to make a new piece with a guest chosen from this same program.
Since then, the bird has left the nest, and the team has produced several original episodes in several cities and concert halls, with a long format in New York, a live performance at the Lyon Auditorium, a week of sampling at the Sunnyside festival in Reims, a special sampling at Emmaus…
The stage being also their playground, Sampling Is Beautiful is now also a Jazz-Hiphop trio composed of Yacha Berdah (trumpet, bass, looper), Japhet Boristhène (drums, rap), Zajazza (turntable, sampler, keyboard).
With this trio they played at Jazz Valthorens, Institut Lumière, Jazz à Vienne, Sunnyside festival…and offer the perfect mix of beatmaking and jazz.
