The Separatist Party
The Separatist Party, American drummer Mike Reed‘s new sextet, fuses Chicago’s current hybrid sound with a wide range of styles and influences. The Separatist Party features cornet player Ben LaMar Gay, the psychedelic trio Bitchin’ Bajas and poet and singer Marvin Tate. A music that echoes Bobby Womack or Gil Scott-Heron, resolutely rooted in groove.
Knobil
Knobil is a vocal jazz quartet created by Louise Knobil, double bass player, singer and composer from Lausanne. Influenced by Esperanza Spalding, Charles Mingus and Oscar Pettiford, she uses her double bass and voice to offer original compositions with an aesthetic somewhere between chanson, post-bop and glittering jazz. The artist performs her compositions accompanied by her knodisciples: Chloé Marsigny (bass clarinet), Vincent Andreae (drums) and Manon Mullener (piano).
