Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek

With origins in Turkey, Germany, France, Great Britain, Sweden and Italy, the members of Grup Şimşek (pronounced “Chimchek”) fit into the borderless generation that some would describe as “Outernational”.
Born in 2014, and boasting two albums and an EP, the band has forged a formidable reputation thanks to its heady blend of Anatolian folk, 1970s Turkish rock, psychedelia, pop and jazz. On Dost 2, new interpretations of Turkish classics and original band compositions are harmoniously linked by inventive arrangements and haunting grooves, transcending time as past and present collide for the space of a song.
