Mb Quatre – Allumette
Since its creation in 2020, Mb quatre has built up a solid experience through concerts. Over the past two years, the group has played several times to a variety of audiences, always with the same aim in mind: to present a repertoire of original compositions and arrangements in acoustic, intimate concerts.
and intimate concerts.
On this 45-minute debut album, many of their desires are fulfilled around a strong sonic identity built up over time. There are arrangements and compositions influenced by the waltz repertoire (Tony Murena’s Indifférence and Thibault Galloy’s composition Valse à Kalu). The influence of traditional Balkan music can be felt in a number of compositions (Breizenitza, Albert et Lou-Leïla and Rita clave), combined with a particular focus on ternary rhythms and claves (Gaboam, Kribi). There’s also a strong jazz flavour, with improvisation featuring prominently in a number of their compositions, such as Nèsoi.
The repertoire is rounded out by tracks written especially for the guests on this album, to reflect their artistic worlds as closely as possible. We’ll be joined by singer Lou Rivaille, a real favourite of the quartet’s musicians, on two tracks. Hadrien Santos Da Silva on percussion will also record three other tracks, bringing a different, more powerful energy.
