Mire

Strasbourg, France

Playing with backlighting, Mire reveals a chamber music of chiaroscuro, where the acoustic timbres of the strings rub up against the precision mechanics of the electromagnetic piano. Their sonorities form a rugged landscape in which rock breaks, high-voltage crackles and hazy melodies of instruments stretched out in
vanishing lines.

The Strasbourg-based trio combines influences from traditional music (Ottoman and Centre-France) with interwoven timbres that blur the boundaries between acoustic and electric. The gestures and energy are those of improvisation, and the sound materials fragment the strange tones of imaginary folklore.
tones of imaginary folklore.
