PAWPAW

In an interview, we introduced you to Vivien Verrecchia, one of the two winners of tanDEM 2023/2024, our support program for young instrumentalists. On Wednesday July 10, we invite him to present his PAWPAW project.

Formed in Lyon in 2023, PawPaw is a unique blend of contemporary jazz, hip-hop and Afrobeat.

Bound together by a friendship forged during their years of study at the Lyon Conservatoire, Gaël Bihr (guitar), Hénock Kona (double bass), Antoine Perret (trumpet) and Vivien Verrecchia (drums), soon joined by Malou Strauss (saxophone), create an impactful sound universe that takes the listener by storm. They highlight the bridges between the free-spirited approach of UK jazz and the writing style typical of contemporary jazz.
