Ramdam Fatal

Ramdam Fatal was originally proposed to the musicians of the ULTRAZOOK trio by the L’Excentrale music company: to form a carnivalesque ensemble that would combine the energy of math rock and its surprises, the depth of traditional melodies from the Massif Central and the freedom of collective improvisation, all wrapped up in a crazy poetry about parties and balls. After a debut album and three years travelling the length and breadth of France, frequenting jazz festival stages as well as the most alternative and underground concert venues, RAMDAM FATAL has built up solid experience in orchestrating the musical individualities of each of its members.

Blurring our reference points, the band persistently recycles snippets of Auvergne bourrées and Occitan refrains within an infernal kaleido phonic musical machine borrowing from all styles of music, escaping any easy labelling.

In the same spirit, and following a change of team (the departure of Clémence Cognet and the arrival of Aurélie Chenille, violinists), Ramdam Fatal are sorting through their piles of possibilities to create a new repertoire, a new set that will give pride of place to the demonic patterns that have so far been the mainstay of their music. Without abandoning the humour and poetry of their first repertoire, our seven ‘Ploucs Célestes’ will try to prefer trance to verbosity: making a speciality of composed and decomposed bars, and grooves as solid as they are improbable, they are keen to work more deeply on the danceable quality of the arrangements: with them, you don’t know on what foot to dance, but you do!
