Cinna Peyghamy et Azu Tiwaline
In partnership with GRAME CNCM
On 18 February 2025 we are hosting an exceptional evening organised by GRAME – Centre national de création musicale. In the spotlight is Franco-Iranian artist Cinna Peyghamy, who is forging new links between traditional Persian music, electro-acoustic music and electronic music.
On the programme: his duet with dj-producer Azu Tiwaline, and a performance co-commissioned by GRAME, Zurkhaneh (House of Strength), a tribute to this emblematic place in Iranian culture, a symbol of strength and resistance.
✦ ZURKHANEH (HOUSE OF STRENGTH) ✦ Body performance
French premiere of Zurkhaneh (Maison de la Force). Cinna Peyghamy is inspired by the zurkhaneh, the venue for varzesh-e bāstāni, an age-old Iranian sport with moral and heroic values. In movement, he guides the musicians like a morshed (master of ceremonies) to the rhythm of his drum and voice. Echoing his own journey – a life in France, far from an Iran he cannot visit – Cinna Peyghamy composes an ‘ersatz zurkhaneh’, a distorted version reinterpreted through the prism of the Internet, his only window on this ancestral heritage. With its powerful bass, organic rhythms and electronic textures, Zurkhaneh questions the links between cultural heritage and modernity, transforming a personal quest into a universal work.

✦ CINNA PEYGHAMY x AZU TIWALINE ✦ Electro-hypnotic trance / Berber-Persian fusion music
At the gateway to the Tunisian desert, Azu Tiwaline delivers a sonic fresco of electronic landscapes textured with traditional Saharan instruments and novel technological devices. Somewhere between ambient, experimental dub and tribal noise, the Franco-Tunisian DJ-producer revisits the ecstatic trances of Berber music, dub culture and techno hypnosis. She teams up with Cinna Peyghamy, an expert in Persian percussion and synthetic modularity. An intensely hypnotic polyrhythmic experience.
