Bullerengue All Stars & James Stewart

On 06 October, we’ll be at Le Périscope for a Black Atlantic Club event focusing on one of the most popular forms of Afro-Colombian music: Bullerengue. In partnership with Lyon-based collective Cimarrones, the group Bullerengue All Stars will be bringing the house down at Le Périscope as part of their European tour. Bullerengue All Stars is an ensemble made up of four of Colombia’s most renowned bullerengue practitioners, from two of the regions where bullerengue has been a fundamental part of the culture for centuries: San Basilio de Palenque and Turbo, in the Urabá region of Colombia.
James Stewart will be providing the warm-up and after-concert entertainment, offering a selection inspired by the culture of the Colombian Picos, the sound systems that have been livening up the nights in the working-class neighbourhoods of Colombia’s Caribbean coast since the 1970s.
