EYM Trio

In collaboration with Strato Music

EYM Trio are back at Le Périscope on 5 October!

This time, their borderless jazz will take us close to Casablanca, the trio’s 5th album released in May 2024, reflecting their nomadic state of mind and taking us on a journey of melodic jazz that defies borders.

After 14 years of touring and collaborating with artists around the world, EYM Trio have decided to focus on a three-piece creation, as if they needed to return to their roots after so many adventures.
Elie Dufour writes the music especially for the group, without any precise guidelines, so that it can be constantly reshaped in complete confidence by the sensitivity of each member. Some of his favourite influences are Bulgarian, Gypsy and Oriental music in the broadest sense.

This album is an opportunity to unveil a piano innovation. Elie Dufour took advantage of his time in confinement with Robert Kieffer to create a mechanical, acoustic pedal, the aim of which is to mutate the central part of the piano and thus gain access to new playing modes. It is omnipresent on the Casablanca album, giving the piano the ability to sound like a new instrument, close to the oud and plucked string instruments.
