Felipe Silva Mena Trio is a contemporary jazz trio formed in Lyon in 2019. They released their first album Sendero Infinito in 2022. Their second album, Racconto, comes out on 17 January 2025, and we’ll be celebrating its release on Tuesday 21 at Le Périscope!
With this second album, Felipe Silva Mena wanted to develop his demanding, contemporary style, while retaining the South American resonance of his previous compositions. Already, in Sendero Infinito, the desire to introduce mandolin alongside double bass with Michel Molines and drums with Adrien Bernet was innovative. With Racconto, the innovation continues with Flora Antropius on harp, cementing this choice even further, forming a plucked string trio (harp, mandolin and double bass). This greatly enriches the sound spectrum and the possibilities of timbral treatment.
