L’Arbre Rouge

Discovered at the turn of the 2010s as a member of the Coax collective, saxophonist Hugues Mayot is a privileged partner of all the adventurers of the contemporary jazz scene. In 2015, he founded the quintet l’Arbre Rouge with a chamber music aesthetic that is as refined as it is ambitious.

Welcoming new partners to the orchestra, Clément Janinet on violin, Bruno Ducret on cello and Joachim Florent on double bass, Hugues Mayot now continues to work on atypical colours, textures and dynamics. He combines the song of his saxophone with the fragility of Sophie Bernado’s bassoon, subtly evolving his discourse on the fringes of popular traditions into a resolutely lyrical music pulsating with imaginary ethnic grooves that are a complete change of scenery.
