Souffrance + Durden
At Bizarre! - Vénissieux
The Montreuil native, a member of the group L’Uzine, raps with his feet in the concrete, waging a guerrilla war against a world as harsh as his punchlines. His mature lyrics and no-frills productions are reminiscent of the heyday of conscious rap, with boom bap, samples and scratchy choruses. On his latest album, Eau de source, he poses with the likes of Vald, Zkr and Oxmo Puccino, all of whom Souffrance equals in terms of authenticity and effectiveness. Rust-proof, hard-hitting rap made to last.
Originally from Vénissieux, Durden grew up between France and Morocco, forging a dual identity that he calls his ‘social and cultural schizophrenia’. This dual culture and class shock helped shape his personality, and is the source of his inspiration. His lyrics take an uncompromising look at the world around him, using hard-hitting punchlines and catchy beats. Durden is the pen of the neighbourhoods.
This concert will take place at Bizarre! presented in collaboration with Le Périscope.
